macrobiotic information
The Macrobiotic Diet is a form of nutrition that focuses on the consumption of whole foods to benefit health. Less processed foods are consumed under the belief that the body better understands how to absorb and utilize nutrients from these sources. Locally grown and cultivated foods are recommended to avoid eating substances that are not in balance with nature, such as the current season or environment. The Macrobiotic Diet was brought to the US by George Ohsawa during the 1950’s. The diet consists primarily of whole grains and vegetables, with only a small portion of animal protein coming from seafood.
