myotherapy information
Myotherapy is a form of massage popularized by Bonnie Pruden, starting in 1976. Myotherapy is similar to Trigger Point therapy in its focus on relieving trigger points in the body to resolve muscular imbalances that cause pain and dysfunction. To dissolve trigger points, continuous pressure is applied on these painful muscle knots for several seconds to reset their state of contraction. Trigger points often create referred pain to other areas on the body, and can cause chronic conditions of pain and weakness. Corrective exercises are usually recommended by Myotherapists to avoid the recreation of these trigger points in the body.
