A Patient Advocate is an individual that works to facilitate the relationship between the patient and their family with the Doctors and other Medical Staff. Issues of communication, understanding of the patient’s medical options, billing choices, emotional support, and other issues are mediated by the Patient Advocate to ensure proper care is provided for the patient. A Patient Advocate may be part of the Medical Staff, such as a nurse or social worker, or provided by another healthcare organization.
