Here are some green living tips from Fort Lauderdale bioidentical hormones expert Dr. Jeffrey Thackrey that can work wonders for your overall health – and your wallet too:
· Organic In the Kitchen - Try to incorporate more organic foods into your diet and limit your intake of processed foods. You can find these products in health food stores like whole foods, but many grocery stores are making it very easy by offering more organic products and in some cases entire sections dedicated to organic goods.
· Ditch the Chemicals - Many of the household cleansers we use to keep our homes clean pose a wide variety of health risks. Natural cleansers work just as well and don’t contain toxic ingredients. Using products instead like lemon, vinegar and baking soda offer a safer solution and cost less too.
· Organic on your Body – Stop using scented products found in lotions, perfumes and scented candles. They may contain Parabens that can interfere with your hormones and liver. Instead, incorporate natural essentials oils, soy based candles, and natural mineral based cosmetics.
Make it a smooth transition for you and your family:
I tell my “mom” patients - If your kids like a particular food, buy it in organic. If you start your children off early eating organic foods, they’ll be more inclined to make healthier choices when they get older.
Replace a few cleaning products at a time, use vinegar on your glass and mirrors and baking soda on your bathroom tile. When you run out of make-up, replace it with mineral based products instead of chemical based ones.
These small changes can make a big difference in how you look and feel and help you lead a healthier life.
