6 Words That Made Me More Powerful Today

Where in your body do you store untapped personal power?

Today I had a crazy potent Chi Nei Tsang session with a woman named Jada. Chi Nei Tsang in simple terms is organ massage. It literally means "working the energy of the internal organs."

All of our unprocessed emotional life is stored in our digestive system waiting to be addressed. Poor emotional digestion is one of the main reasons for ill health which affects our mojo � our ability to play full out and become the powerful leader we want to be!

Chi Nei Tsang facilitates the unfolding of emotions and the clarification of our emotional life so we can heal the parts of our being that say it's not safe to grow.

3 Steps To Build Your Business YOUR Way

My new favorite quote from one of my mentors, James Malinchak (courtesy of Dan Kennedy)...

�Don�t let the inmates run the asylum.�

Translation? Your business is not a democracy�YOU get to create the rules.

Here�s what I mean...

I was coaching this morning with one of my private clients about setting up her coaching calendar. She�s a mom, and has a two-hour window each day to work. Her time is at a premium. So I asked her to choose one day in the week that is only for coaching. She hesitated. �But what if clients aren�t available on that day and time?�

My response: �This is YOUR business, not your client�s business. When you want to work with a lawyer, and she�s only available Tuesday at 3pm, you make the time to see her, right? Clients will do the same thing for you. But YOU have to take a stand for your right to have a schedule that truly serves your needs.�

The only person that�s going to make sure your business is set up exactly the way you want it is YOU.

To help you take a stand for the business model that fits YOUR lifestyle, here are 3 steps you can take today to build your business YOUR way...

1. Get Clear On Your Vision
In your secret heart of hearts, what would you really love to spend your time doing? How many hours would you really work? Who would you really be working with? There are too many times I ask a client, �What�s your income goal?� and they answer, �I don�t know.� Take 3 minutes right now to jot down your ideal workday and your ideal income...no censoring! First thoughts, best thoughts.

2. Become A Leader
Have you ever noticed that when you work with a powerful coach, you�re never left guessing? That coach and her team are consistently guiding you to your next action. With your clients, unapologetically share your packages, your prices, your schedule, your policies. Don�t ask your clients for permission to have the business you really want. Give that to yourself.

3. Forget �Fixing� Your Clients�And Empower Them Instead
Let�s face it...a lot of us have a �savior� complex. Take my advice: work that sh*t out in therapy! Stop trying to save or fix your clients and empower them, instead. For example, when it comes time to talk about your fees during a selling conversation, tell the prospect your fee and then CLOSE YOUR MOUTH. You have no idea what your prospect is thinking...your program could be the very thing they�ve been saving for.

Imagine what it would be like if you got to be like Tina Fey...you got to put on your �Bossypants� and run your business exactly the way you want. Think about how much more FUN you�d have in your business if you weren�t constantly worried about making things okay for other people and just got to be yourself...no apologies.

Last night I was sitting at my computer about to close up shop and an email with this subject line comes in, �Holy Sh*t, this worked!�

It was from Katie, one of our HMBA Live participants. She runs a yoga and nutrition program for women and just enrolled in our year-long Holistic MBA Core Training. Well, she was panicking because her new program was starting in less than two weeks and she only had ONE person signed up!! Ugh�

So we put Katie in the spotlight coaching hot seat to figure out how to fill her program fast.

We came up with something that was natural to her and EASY to implement. No fancy schmancy stuff like videos or a Facebook fan page or any other geeky Internet marketing tactics. What was going to get her the best results FAST happens to be one of the biggest missed opportunities in most holistic businesses.

A blind spot is the stuff you don’t know that you don’t know. Another way of saying that is unconscious incompetence. We all have stuff that we know we don’t know, but what about the stuff that we don’t know that we don’t know? How do we even find out that stuff?

Having a mentor or coach or circle of people around you asking provocative questions is hugely valuable, especially if you want to make a big leap this year. 

In this video I’m going to ask you something that I’m secretly afraid to ask – it’s one of those provocative questions designed to reveal a major blind spot booby trap around charging what you’re worth and earning lots of money that may be the very thing that’s stalling your progress.

Ugh! I can't believe I made this mistake!
 
This past Saturday I was at an Internet Marketing conference in San Diego. There were about 200 people there. I had the honor of speaking on a panel about irresistible website copy. Literally how to weave words into cash when describing your products and programs.  
 
This is something I am really good at. Now this panel wasn’t about selling anything, it was just about being featured as an expert and giving the audience amazing value for coming to the conference.
 
Here’s the thing… Some of the other writing experts got to make formal presentations over the weekend and make offers from the stage for people to invest in their services. To make a long story short, several of them walked out with an extra $50,000 - $100,000!!
 
I teased my mentor who was hosting the conference about not inviting me to make an offer from the stage. He turned to me and said, “Yeah, why AREN'T you up there?”
 
It suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks… because I hadn’t ASKED to be up there.
 
Ugh. I expected that if he wanted me to speak and make an offer, he would have asked ME. Truthfully, this was my way of playing small, deflecting responsibility and staying in my comfort zone because asking would have been intimidating! See the problem with this?
 
I was leaving the ball in his court rather than proactively going after what I wanted.
 
And now I'm kicking myself! I couldn't make myself go out of my comfort zone to ask for what I wanted, and boy do I regret it. Especially when I saw my colleagues get tons of new clients and literally add tens of thousands of dollars to their bank account in an hour.

What is a Signature System and why do you need one?
 
A Signature System is a series of steps you take someone through to get a particular result they want. Think of it as your own unique recipe for vibrant health, losing weight, living gluten-free, finding your soulmate or healing digestive problems.

 
Why do you want one?
 
1) A signature system sets YOU apart from everyone else… especially in a saturated market place, you’ve got to find a way to stand out from all the other wellness professionals. Notice how there is a feeling of individuality, uniqueness and creativity to the word signature. This is where you get to build a practice that is based on your unique brilliance, no one else, this is your place to shine. I love that!

 
2) A signature system makes you the go-to person in your field. It gives you recognition and status as an expert who knows what she’s talking about.

 
3) It makes it soooo much easier to talk about what you do in a concise, neat little package that clients can understand. Having a system implies that you’ve given your program some thought, and that you’ve landed on a process that gets predictable results. 

 
The REAL challenge in marketing coaching is making the intangible TANGIBLE – “health coaching” is a very nebulous service – clients can’t unwrap the coaching box and hold it in their hands. They have to believe sight unseen that this is a service that works and is worth their investment.
