Can we really change our blood Ph with Alkaline Water?

What changes blood pH with diet has been researched for a very long time.  Skeptics claim that stomach acid neutralizes the effect of high alkaline food and drink when introduced to the stomach and do not effect the PH of the body. This is simply not the case.

The term alkaline tide is used to define this increase in blood pH after a alkaline meal. There are two mechanisms that are triggered by the introduction of alkaline food and drink to the stomach.

1. The alkalinity of food is determined by the level of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. These minerals are not effected by the stomach acid and are in part absorbed into the blood stream.

2. The pH of stomach acid is regulated between 2 - 4 pH. When Alkaline food and drink is consumed. the stomach must produce more acid in order to maintain its natural pH. This results in an increase in a sodium bicarbonate buffer in the blood leading to a relitive alkaline of the blood

Alka-Pure Alkaline Water promotes your body`s natural alkaline reserve.   How does your body become Alkaline?

Numerous reports make bold statements that clearly document the your body`s chemistry change with food and drink.

Please believe your diet can change your genes: Epigenetics

Monday, January 25, 2010

Author: Mark Dederichs, DC, LAc

Our lifestyles and environment can change the way our genes are expressed. This can be  clear when identical twins end up with different disease and outcomes in health.

Epigenetics is fascinating. We are a complete collection of  the past behaviors. Of you and your relatives. This is in regards to diet and lifestyle. Do not pretend that life is static, You have a greater responsibility to protect your health then just the current crisis.

Achara rasayana:

A most important key for long life according to Ayurveda is to follow Achara rasayana which means code of behavior or code of ethics. Achara Rasayanas do more than just tell us how to behave. They help us to improve our ability to choose positive behaviors and avoid making mistakes that cause ill-health and unhappiness. Just some of the writtings of years gone past.

Always speak truth
Don’t be angry
Don’t indulge in alcoholic drinks
Observe celibacy and the sexual act according to code
Don’t be violent
Avoid over exertion
Be calm and peaceful
Maintain balance in sleep
Take milk and ghee in moderate in your diet

Over the past few years the concept of Alkaline vs. Acid in relationship to diet has gained popularity. There has been a handful of doctors, researchers and health advocates that implicate "acid diets" as literal death and premature aging in mankind. They were 30 years ahead of their time.

Let me demystify why you should consider drinking mineral rich alkaline water. This water contains the alkaline forming minerals calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium which are essential to the bodies detoxification mechanisms. This group is also essential for a healthy metabolism. They counterbalance the over intake of acid forming minerals such as phosphorus, iodine, chlorine and sulfur.

The Standard American Diet contains a large amount of processed foods that supplies an excess of acid forming minerals. A diet that has a consistent supply of alkaline forming minerals, through your water intake, will process, metabolize and gently bind toxins through out the day.

We typically eat three meals a day that may or may not have the minerals you need on a consistent basis. These highs and lows of mineral intake are hard on the body. When consuming mineral rich alkaline water on a regular basis, you are less likely to be in a crisis needing calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium.

Drinking Alka-Pure mineral rich alkaline water regularly will gently supply your body with the protection of alkaline forming minerals. Studies have shown that consistent mineral intake is essential for a healthy life.

Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine that originated in China over 2,000 years ago. It is based on the belief that living beings have a vital energy, called "qi", that circulates through twelve invisible energy lines known as meridians on the body. Each meridian is associated with a different organ system. An imbalance in the flow of qi throughout a meridian is how disease begins. Chi or Qi is an energy that can be felt, experienced and used by those who do not necessarily practice acupuncture.

Acupuncturists insert needles into specified points along meridian lines to influence the restore balance to the flow of qi. There are over 1,000 acupuncture points on the body.

In 1997, acupuncture needles were reclassified from "experimental" to "medical device" by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The National Institutes of Health released a consensus statement in the same year endorsing acupuncture for the treatment of a variety of conditions such as post-operative pain, tennis elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Acupuncture is one of the best known of the alternative therapies. The FDA estimates that people in the United States spend more than $500 million annually on acupuncture treatments. Many people have insurance coverage for acupuncture.

How Acupuncture Works

There are numerous theories about how acupuncture works. Some of them are:
  • acupuncture stimulates the release of pain-relieving endorphins
  • acupuncture influences the release of neurotransmitters, substances that transmit nerve impulses to the brain
  • acupuncture influences the autonomic nervous system
  • acupuncture stimulates circulation, micro and macro.
  • acupuncture influences the electrical currents of the body, through bio-electric conductivity

Chiropractors
, also known as doctors of chiropractic or chiropractic physicians, diagnose and treat patients with health problems of the musculoskeletal system and treat the effects of those problems on the nervous system and on general health. Many chiropractic treatments deal specifically with the spine and the manipulation of the spine. Chiropractic medicine is based on the principle that spinal joint misalignment's interfere with the nervous system and can result in lower resistance to disease and many different conditions of diminished health. It is now known that a variety of diseases can have there root in spinal dysfunction.

The chiropractic approach to health care stresses the patient’s overall health. Chiropractors provide natural, drugless, nonsurgical health treatments, relying on the body’s inherent recuperative abilities. They also recognize that many factors affect health, including exercise, diet, rest, environment, and heredity. Chiropractors recommend changes in lifestyle that affect those factors. In some situations, chiropractors refer patients to or consult with other health practitioners.

Like other health practitioners, chiropractors follow a standard routine to get information needed to diagnose and treat patients. They take the patient’s medical history; conduct physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations; and may order laboratory tests. X rays and other diagnostic images are important tools because of the chiropractor’s emphasis on the spine and its proper function. Chiropractors also analyze the patient’s posture and spine using a specialized technique. For patients whose health problems can be traced to the musculoskeletal system, chiropractors manually adjust the spinal column.

Some chiropractors use other alternative medicines in their practices, including therapies using water, light, massage, ultrasound, electric, acupuncture, and heat. They also may apply supports such as straps, tapes, and braces to manually adjust the spine. Chiropractors counsel patients about health concepts such as nutrition, exercise, changes in lifestyle, and stress management, but chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery.
In addition to general chiropractic practice, some chiropractors specialize in sports injuries, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics.

There has been a recent finding in chemistry and medicine that will changes the way we look at some aspects of hydration, disease, and wellness. The Aquaporin. This little channel reveals such valuable information on the human use of water and transport mechanisms that textbooks will need to be rewritten. Water is not a passive substance left to an undetermined fate. Rather, it is an active process that allows one water molecule at a time to enter the cell. Since the body is 70% water and most of the human`s chemistry depends on water, this current research is essential for human health and wellness.

The picture below, is what this little channel looks like. The blue line of dots in the center is a single file line of water molecules. These molecules must be stable and free in solution. There will not be an extra electrical charge, oxygen, or hitch hikers that can enter your cells.

"The Crystal structure of an aquaporin reveals how it achieves the remarkable selectivity. The Channels have a narrow pore that allows water molecules to transverse the membrane in single file..."

Molecular Biology of the Cell: Reference Edition (Hardcover)

Throughout the book, emphasis is placed not just on what we know but also on how we know and what remains to be discovered- important for engaging and enthusing students

"Studies of water transport in various organisms and tissues suggested that aquaporins have a narrow pore preventing any large molecule, ions (salts) and even proton (H3O+) and hydroxyl ion (OH-) flow while maintaining an extremely high water permeation rate; ~ 109molecules H2O per channel per second (Agre et al., 1998, Borgnia et al., 1999)." - A MIRACLE THAT CAN CHANGE THE WORLD - Aquaporin Website

So, you ask, what does this mean to me? Well I am glad you asked. Current U.S. public water sources may be somewhat challenged and may not provide optimal health and hydration. However, U.S. public water sources are clean for use in everyday life. In your quest for health and hydration, this article enlightens you, allowing you to scrutinize health claims made by some manufacturers.

For optimum health, you would be well served to drink "effectively" filtered, alkaline and happy water. Not water that is tortured by electricity, heat, vibration, magnets and the like....

We now have a present understanding that a plant based diet might have been doing just what all the proponents were testifying to all these years. Many fine physicians, scientists, and nutritionists have understood for quite sometime that your diet modifies your body physiology. A large body of work recently done by Dr. Campbell is called The China Study. This book is a must read for those who are a hold out on the plant bases diet health benefits. The Alkaline life in action.

"The China Study gives critical, life-saving nutritional information for every health-seeker in America. But, it is much more; Dr. Campbell’s expose of the research and medical establishment makes this book a fascinating read and one that could change the future for all of us. Every health care provider and researcher in the world must read it." - Joel Fuhrman, M.D. author of the bestselling book, Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss

Dr Campbell has put any controversy to bed. This book can change your health outlook and ensure your path to an Alkaline and mindful lifestyle and all the benefits there in. Well, we now have a Chinese import that is just what the doctor ordered.

Some simple steps to try. One meal a day should have no meat. That does not mean not eating. Slowly eat more vegetarian, at your next restaurant outing, try meatless. Slowly you will feel the changes a plant based diet will provide.

In this case, buy Chinese....

There is a ton of chatter about your body`s ability to change blood Ph with diet. Some respected healthcare providers, scientists and quack watchers suggest that our blood chemistries do not change with diet, especially blood Ph. Well, well, well... I do not know why this has had so much adverse press. There is a body of literature that does suggest this. Numerous reports make bold statements that clearly document the your body`s chemistry change with food and drink.

The Alka Pure lifestyle promotes your body`s alkaline reserve which are challenged daily by our current "feeding" habits. We must change the tide of destructive processes by eating food that strengthens us. Eating less for a start is a good idea. Eat as natural as possible is always best and try to avoid acid drinks. You can change your blood Ph and move your chemistries in a direction away from acid.

Cattle, chickens, pigs and ducks feed. Humans eat...
