FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu, the Grandmother of Acupuncture, is a no needles,
gentle touch healing art. It is an ancient healing method that is akin
to acupuncture and acupressure. It is subtle yet dynamic and effective.
Exceptionally gentle and non-invasive, Jin Shin Jyutsu harmonizes body,
mind and spirit. Literally, Jin Shin Jyutsu means “Art of the Creator
expressed through knowing and compassionate man”.
How does Jin Shin Jyutsu work?
Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 "safety energy locks" along the
energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. These safety energy
locks are located at the intersections of our energy highways. When one
or more of these pathways becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation
can disrupt the local area causing pain and eventually dis-harmonizing
the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in
combination reopens the pathway and brings balance to body, mind and
spirit. This can bring
about relief for any type of stress whether it is mental, emotional,
physical or spiritual.
What can I expect during a session?
The receiver remains clothed and lies face up on a cushioned
treatment table. The session is generally one hour although shorter
sessions are available for children, or to fit into your busy day. The
work is very gentle with hands placed over the client's clothes and
does not involve manipulation, massage or rubbing. As the energy flows
freely, the body will heal itself from everyday stress. It boosts our
own profound healing capacities and thus promotes optimal health,
well-being and vitality. It is a valuable complement to conventional
healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress.
What are the benefits of Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Our bodies are designed to heal themselves, we need only
find ways to bring the body back to harmony and balance so that healing
can happen. After your session, you will have an increased sense of
well-being, deep
relaxation and renewed energy, as well as relief from the symptoms of
stress related disorders. Jin Shin Jyutsu is cumulative, so the more
Jin Shin Jyutsu you receive, the more it will help you to find balance.
Can I have a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment if I’m on medication?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a powerful and effective tool to relax and reduce
stress and pain in our daily lives. It is a very supportive method,
co-operating with other medical and natural therapies. There are no counter-indications to Jin Shin Jyutsu Treatments.
Is it safe to have a treatment if I’m pregnant?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is excellent for preparing for pregnancy and
during pregnancy and after pregnancy. As the Art works with the subtle energies of your
body it can ease pregnancy discomforts as well as support the
development of your unborn child and ease the birth process.
What should I wear to the session? Should I eat before my session?
It is suggested you wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you eat before a session it is recommended it be a light
meal or snack. If you eat a large meal before the session a lot of your
body's energy will be focused on digesting your food instead of healing
your body! Equally, a meal directly after a session is not recommended
for the same reason.
Will I feel better right away?
The response to a session is unique to each individual.
Although the practitioner can usually provide some relief after one
session, the client usually feels optimum results after several
successive treatments. Conditions of muscular tension are generally the
quickest to resolve.
The more chronic a condition the longer it will take to get better,
though improvement in symptoms may be almost immediate.
Is there any point in having therapy if I feel well?
Definitely! Just as you would schedule a massage for relaxation and
pampering in times of health, Jin Shin Jyutsu is an excellent tool to
keep you
in peak condition and prevent the onset of disease. Jin Shin Jyutsu
supports you in finding and maintaining balance. Prevention is
better than cure.
Is there anything I can do to help myself?
Yes. Your practitioner will guide you on what self-help holds you
can do to improve your well-being and support the work of your
sessions.
